The South African version of the 2015 Ford Mustang was revealed at the Ford Go Further conference in Sandton. South Africa has been waiting to be part of the Mustang movement for quite some time now, so if you are eager to get your hands on one then I suggest putting your name done on the waiting list as soon as possible, 'cause the line is going to be a long one.
There will be two engine derivatives that will debut in SA in the form of a 5.0 litre V8 and the economical 2.3 litre EcoBoost. Now you might be thinking that this is supposed to be a muscle car and Ford has no business putting a puny little 2.3 litre engine in there, but what you might not know is that this little engine can conjure up 238kw of power and 430Nm of torque. Minus that muscle car growl the Mustang EcoBoost has enough power to tear up those tires.

The entry level Ecoboost Mustang is claimed at doing a 0-100km/h sprint in just 5.4secs. That being said, I believe that this version will be the more popular of the two on South African roads, as it offers both power and fuel economy. And to back this up we've seen how economical the EcoBoost can be in the Focus ST. Imagine driving a Mustang and not worrying about fuel economy.....
Prices are still a mystery, but I would put the entry level Mustang close to the R600k mark. The launch is just around the corner and we'll be seeing these beasts on our roads before the year is out.
